Schildkröt company history
Schildkröt has been making high-quality dolls sporting classic and timeless fashion since 1896. An entrepreneurial founding team came up with the innovative idea of using celluloid as a substitute for many raw materials, including for the manufacture of dolls. This novel invention helped make Schildkröt dolls affordable for many people – as early as 1911, the majority of dolls produced were exported throughout the world. Our high quality standards and exceptional play value have ensured the long-term success of the Schildkröt brand. The process of making a premium-quality doll is thus fairly time-intensive. We use only non-toxic raw materials as well as sustainably produced materials in our toys. Schildkröt has been upholding its promise and top priority to make sustainable and safe toys since 1896.
